Custom Taylor guitars are one-of-a-kind instruments crafted with design elements selected from an extensive range of tonewoods, visual details and body styles. Tailored to suit individual aesthetic tastes, musical preferences and playing styles, each guitar is as distinctive as the player behind it.
At our annual Catch event leading into the NAMM Show, we showcased a stunning array of custom models, offering Taylor dealers the opportunity to explore and acquire guitars from this specially curated collection. Each guitar is designed at our El Cajon, California, headquarters and, excluding hollowbody hybrid T5z models, is braced with our proprietary V-Class voicing architecture.
Below, you can explore some of our favorite models at the 2025 Catch event, exhibiting the creativity and craftsmanship behind the Taylor Custom program. Plus, watch Taylor’s Aaron Dablow break down what makes each custom model a truly special instrument.
Custom #8: Sequoia (Grand Auditorium, Sinker Redwood/Cocobolo)
Featuring two visually stunning, sonically rewarding tonewoods, this custom Grand Auditorium boasts solid, gloss-finished cocobolo back and sides with a shaded edgeburst and a striped sinker redwood top. The soundboard’s striping effect is owed to minerals and silt absorbed by the old-growth redwood logs as they lay dormant for decades in the riverbeds of Northern California before removal. Details like koa body binding, a beveled koa armrest and mother-of-pearl/koa Faceted inlays deliver a distinctive aesthetic complemented by Gotoh luxury gold tuners.
Custom #10: The Monument (Grand Concert, Sinker Cypress/Black Limba)
Showcasing an Art Deco aesthetic and a unique, premium-grade tonewood pairing in a compact, fingerstyle-friendly 12-fret Grand Concert body, this one-of-a-kind model truly embodies the spirit of our Custom Program. Its sinker cypress top and solid black limba back and sides are finished with a lustrous gloss and an artfully applied shaded edgeburst. A boxwood/cocobolo rosette and Euro Deco inlays harmonize visually with cocobolo binding, a boxwood peghead logo, as well as the back strip and tuner buttons, both composed of ebony and cocobolo. Outfitted with an LR Baggs Element VTC pickup, this inspiring guitar is as performance-ready as it is visually appealing.
Custom #18 (Grand Auditorium, Lutz Spruce/Figured Big Leaf Maple)
Designed for players who value bold visual artistry as much as a bold sound, this custom Grand Auditorium features a vibrant Desert Dawn color/burst treatment and gloss finish (body and neck) that visually amplify its figured maple back and sides and straight-grained Lutz spruce top. Engraved Victorian inlays join a grained ivoroid pickguard, ivoroid binding, an ivoroid/faux tortoiseshell rosette and bone bridge pins to complete the captivating aesthetic. Ultra-precise Gotoh 510 antique chrome tuning machines round out the refined design and deliver premium performance control.
Custom #27 (T5z, Figured Big Leaf Maple/Shamel Ash)
Musically versatile and visually striking, this Custom T5z boasts a figured Big Leaf maple top — featuring an antique blond color application — paired with a responsibly sourced Shamel Ash body. The T5z bridges acoustic and electric worlds with its hybrid hollowbody design and expansive tone control. Dual humbuckers, an active body sensor, five-way switching and Gotoh 510 antique gold tuners enable you to unlock a vast range of tones and dial in the sound you want with precision. Boxed Wave inlays, a boxwood peghead logo and a sleek, full-guitar gloss finish enhance the aesthetic, leaving a lasting visual impression.
Custom #40 (12-Fret Grand Concert, AA-Grade Hawaiian Koa)
This custom Grand Concert 12-fret beautifully showcases the dramatic visual allure and charming sonic character of Hawaiian koa. Its body, which features a gloss finish and Simons wedge back configuration, is crafted with expertly selected AA-grade koa. The 12-fret design adds a bit of extra midrange heft and provides a slinkier, more relaxed fretting feel. A suite of paua and bloodwood appointments is accentuated by intricate Longhorn inlays in paua/gold mother-of-pearl, Taylor polished bronze tuners with ebony/koa buttons and dark stain bone bridge pins with green Australian opal dots.
Custom #38 (Grand Auditorium, Mahogany)
With its solid, all-mahogany Grand Auditorium body, graceful Florentine cutaway and Candy Apple Red color treatment, this custom guitar custom model makes a memorable visual statement. A grained ivoroid peghead logo, binding and Hook and Latch inlays are complemented by an ivoroid pickguard, bone bridge pins and grained ivoroid/black rosette. The Honduran rosewood fretboard, peghead veneer and bridge create a sophisticated visual harmony with the rich-hued color application. Outfitted with ultra-precise Gotoh 510 antique chrome tuning machines and an onboard ES2 pickup, this custom build is equipped for studio sessions and live performances.
Custom #42 (Grand Auditorium, Bearclaw Sitka Spruce/Blackheart Sassafras)
Blackheart sassafras back and sides are paired with a figured Bearclaw Sitka spruce top for this gloss-finished cutaway Grand Auditorium body with a shaded edgeburst (entire guitar). A comfort-boosting Honduran rosewood armrest and a thoughtfully-curated appointment package ensure this custom model delivers exceptional playability, refined visuals and balanced, articulate sound that channels the player’s individual style with clarity and warmth. Unique aesthetic touches include a variegated ebony fretboard, a colorful ebony peghead veneer with an eye-catching abalone peghead logo, a Honduran rosewood backstrap and truss rod cover, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, and satin black tuning machines.
